And just like that we move into Advent…Experiencing God takes a pause while we focus on the coming of our Savior. It’s a shame we don’t pause the rest of life and focus on Jesus but it seems life gets even more chaotic and busy for most people during the holiday season.

For some, this season isn’t busy. There is little extra to do and either no cash or no energy to do it anyway. So for every busy person there is one sitting at home, remembering a holiday long ago. These people are your friends, neighbors, even family. You know who they are.

The Bible makes special provision for the poor, the widow and the orphan. I think in today’s times it would include all who live alone. I think the Bible would include everyone of limited mobility, without transportation. Those whose family’s grew up and apart, leaving a void. You know who they are.

For Christmas, as your gift to Jesus, make some phone calls to those who are alone. Drop by and visit a couple of people you no longer see at church. Gather some cookies or treats, put a smile on your face, go spend an hour with someone who lives alone. Just an hour. You can even buy 10 cards, just 10 and send them to our church shut ins. Take a look at the prayer list, maybe you could send cards or call each one on the list. If you need a phone number or address, just text me and I’ll send it to you.

You can also join us as we go caroling on December 15th. It’s a great time to spread some joy.

I pray you have a deep experience of Jesus’ love and presence this holiday season, in every song, gift and hug.

Merry Christmas!
Pastor ReNe’e
